Chaplains are some of the unsung heroes of Christianity who are ministering to some of the most dangerous people on the planet.

In Prison

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” NIV

Imagine the desolate darkness of a prison cell. No longer the tough guy, completely isolated with only the memories of failure and betrayal that have brought you to this place. There is no one to manipulate. You are stuck with you. it seems as though you’ve fallen into an abyss of boredom, and regret. Hope may be a 20 year distant release date which is barely any hope at all. Just the drip, drip, drip of day after day of monotonous ticking of time.

But one day a chaplain offered you a book. You were given a brand new beautiful book filled with fascinating, dramatic stories! You never thought about God but you were sure that was for other people. But as you begin to lose your self in the pages of the intriguing stories, the potential of a different life begins to rise like the morning sun on a new day.

This is what we do at Books Behind Bars. We bring life changing stories of hope to inmates across the United States. We have teamed up with many wonderful chaplains who dedicate themselves to bringing Jesus Christ to every incarcerated man or woman in their prison. With small budgets they are elated to receive these books absolutely free of charge. They hand them out to thousands of inmates and lives are being changed. These chaplains go on to disciple these men and women and guide them through the true transformation that scripture promises. These new creations are truly being raised from the dead in their tombs.

When you partner with Books Behind Bars you are bringing the gospel to the darkest places on earth.
